Re-model existing fitted bedroom wardrobes with new doors and furniture

This project involved an existing dated fitted wardrobe system, which had long lower doors and smaller overhead doors.

The design and build brief was to replace dual doors with single full-height doors from Homestyle. The framework around the wardrobe system would also require removing existing hinges and making good the woodwork. Apply a self-adhesive vinyl matching the doors to the plinth and framework edges. Finally, replace all the existing hinges with Häfele 155˚ wide-opening, soft-closing hinges, and finish the look with new handles in a Nordic bronze effect.

As it turned out, we were unable to get six matching metal handles, so a custom paint job of gold/copper mix, dry-brushed over a base coat of matt black and sealed in satin varnish, gave us really effective and realistic results.

The final result is a contemporary style and luxury finish at a fraction of the cost of replacing with a new fitted system, at the same time delivering a new lease of life to existing furniture.
